Now that things are well underway, we’re going to resume our posts highlighting specific designs. Today? We return to the character theme we first visited last week when we introduced the Unreliable Narrator and Poor Little Meow-Meow designs. These four designs, we find a new favorite guy (gender neutral), and then we put them in A Situation! These glossy vinyl stickers are 3 in x 4.5 in (7.6 cm x 11.4 cm).

A banner with text and images over a simple brick-like background. It's entitled "Fannish Safety Signs: sticker pack by Duck Prints Press." A small banner beside this says, "funded in under 6 hours." At the top of the graphic are two "caution tape" style graphics in yellow and black: one reads "angst beyond this point" the other "caution dead dove do not eat." Two black and white graphics on the left are shown. One says "be alert for idiots in love" and includes two simple figure silhouettes with question marks over their heads passing a heart between them; the other shows a person sinking into a hole with text that reads "be alert for plot holes." At the bottom are two yellow and black caution signs; one reads "there's only one bed" with a picture of a neatly made bed; the other reads "caution enemies to lovers" and features two crossed swords with a heart over their tips. Lastly, there's a blue and white graphic with a list of five items, each illustrated, and text at the bottom reads "the required focus aids above must be prepared before a fanfic-reading session"; the five aids are "preferred website," "suitable timeslot," "cozy blanket," "imminent schedule," and "comfort blorbos."

Absolutely delighted to share that the first 24 hours of our Fannish Safety Signs Kickstarter campaign, to raise funds to create 37 different fandom-themed warning and safety stickers, have passed, and we smashed our initial goal in under 6 hours! We’re now only $300 from our first stretch goal at $4,000, and we have more stretch goals in the works – we’ll announce the next after we reach this one.

When we hit $4,000, every single backer will receive their chosen stickers, and will also receive the designs they’ve selected as digital files for personal use!

Don’t wait – this campaign will end on May 22nd. Become a backer today!

Text reads "A Truth Universally Acknowledged: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice." In the upper right corner is the Duck Prints Press logo, and beneath that is the Kickstarter "Projects We Love" badge.

The Kickstarter campaign to fund the publishing of A Truth Universally Acknowledged: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” ends at 1:15 p.m. Eastern time on December 5th 2024!

That means, as I’m posting this, you only have 27 hours left, and the minutes are ticking by. We’re funded, but we’d love your help to hit a stretch goal and to knock our initial goal out of the park. It’s not your last chance to get this book – we’ll publish it for all after we finish campaign fulfillment, and late pledges are enabled for just the print book and e-book – but you’ll get it well ahead of anyone else, and it may be the only chance to get our awesome merchandise, depending how many extras we end up post-fulfillment!

A graphic on a pink background. It shows two identical book covers for "A Truth Universally Acknowledged," one with a download arrow over it, and it also shows: an enamel pin design of a fountain pen and text reading "love ardent love"; three peacock images with rainbow in different parts of the image; a bookmark image with many flowers, an art print of the full cover art sans text, a small peacock sticker, and artwork of a peacock in a fan shape.

Wondering what it’s all about? Well…

With this third installment in our Queer Fanworks Inspired By… anthology series, we set out to explore the truth by which we at Duck Prints Press live: that a classic work without a single canonically queer character must be in want of a very LGBTQIA+ makeover! A Truth Universally Acknowledged: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, with 21 short stories and 20 full-page color artworks, is just that. 38 creators have contributed to this project, drawing inspiration from Pride and Prejudice’s characters and story to create delightful, thoughtful, intriguing, and (of course) very queer fanworks and Pride and Prejudice-inspired original works. For this collection, we encouraged our creators to focus on Sapphic/wlw relationships and/or transgender and genderqueer interpretations for their inspiration, though those are definitely not the only types of queer we’ve fit into this diverse collection.

Want to know more? We’ve done 8 posts with teasers from all of our authors and artists!

A Truth Universally Acknowledged: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” is 80% funded! With 8 days to go! We’re really on a roll, and we’d love to keep that going to reach our goal early and maybe get to a stretch goal or two. Stretch goals are great for us, because they primarily are designed to enable us to raise the pay of our contributors!

In case you were wondering, there’ll be five more of these teaser posts after this one – so we’re almost halfway through the teasers. A lot of contributors means a lot of posts! Happy Sunday everyone! The crowdfunding campaign for our next anthology, A Truth Universally Acknowledged: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice,” is off to an awesome start. We have a LOT of contributors to this anthology, and not a lot of days of campaign, so I’ll be packing a lot of teasers into each post over the next week and a half. Today, I’ve shared crops by two artists and excerpts from three stories! HAPPY COVER REVEAL DAY! Duck Prints Press’s next anthology, A Truth Universally Acknowledged: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, will be crowdfunding starting November 20th, 2024. We’ve been hard at work on this collection for a loooong time and we are thrilled to finally be making it available for y’all. The gorgeous cover art, made by artist Aceriee, was inspired by the classic 1898 “peacock edition of Pride and Prejudice – but of course, we made it queerer. The spectacular full cover is wrap around.

(spoilers: this art will be offered a postcard as one of the Kickstarter campaign backer rewards!)

This awesome book features 21 stories each up to 5,000 words long and 20 full-page color artworks. Our campaign features six merch items, too, with peacocks standing proud on much of the art.

The crowdfunding campaign for Many Hands: An Anthology of Polyamorous Erotica ends at 2 p.m. Eastern time on July 20th – or, about 27 hours from when I’m posting this! We’re less than $200 from our first stretch goal, which will enable us to double the amount we’re paying our author contributors, and will also get our backers at levels with merch (levels 3 and 4) to get an additional merch piece at no additional cost to them – a sheet of temporary tattoos by artist Jared Powell! Two of the designs that’ll be on this sheet are already completed – here’s a sneak peek.

The blue cama flowers in the top tattoo are commonly associated with polyamory in the language of flowers, and the bottom heart is an American traditional tattoo style take on a heart, with colors reminiscent of the polyamory pride flag. Each of these would be 1 in x 1 in (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm), and there’ll be a third design as well, making a 4 in x 4 in (10.25 cm x 10.25 cm) sheet.

We’d love to make these tattoo designs a reality, and pay our authors more – and you can help! The single biggest assistance anyone can do for a Kickstarter campaign (other than becoming a backer of course!) is to help spread the word. Share our posts on the social media platform(s) of your choice, so more people will know about our awesome project!

And of course, if you’re not a backer yet, there’s no time like the present to become one! Check out our Kickstarter campaign before time runs out!

There are only 11 days left to support the crowdfunding campaign to fund the publishing of our next anthology Many Hands: An Anthology of Polyamorous Erotica, and we’re funded and halfway to our first stretch goal! Today, we’re highlighting three more stories, sharing excerpts! With these, we’re at a total of 9 shared teasers, more than half the stories in our anthology. The authors this time are Taliesin Owens, Cedar D. McCafferty-Svec, and Dei Walker.

Excerpt

“I trust you,” Jana says.

Luce sucks in a breath. “Thought you learned not to.”

“Yet here I am.” She lets go but doesn’t move away. Luce is so close that Jana can smell them, sharp and clean like the air just after lightning. She inhales. She wants to grasp that scent and hold it close, a reminder that being alive is supposed to be electric and interesting rather than a gray march of never-ending existence.

“Because of Ari?” Jana can hear trepidation in their voice, read the anxiety in the set of their shoulders.

“Because I’m tired of being enemies.”

Luce turns their head, and suddenly their faces are much too close together. Jana can feel their breath, a brush of breeze in the warm air. “You’re too damn nice for your own good.”

“Maybe.” Jana should pull away. She doesn’t want to. “Maybe I’m just ready to let you kill me.”

“Is swimming in a strange waterfall basic really a good idea?” Bailey asked, cracking open one eye.

“Most ponds are safe to swim in, and that spot had a current running through it, so it’s not like we’re swimming in mosquito water,” xe said.

“We don’t have our swimsuits on us, though,” Duke pointed out. He leaned forward, casting a shadow over Bailey’s head.

“And?” Mattie asked. “I’ve seen you naked in the locker room more times than I can count, Bays and Tabi grew up together, and I know Bays has walked in on you changing at least three times. We can skinny dip. None of us have anything the others haven’t seen already.”

Excerpt:

She watched his eyelids flutter and fall shut, listened to his ragged breathing ease. Serra counted his breaths; once she was certain the draught had taken full hold, she turned to the critical work ahead. Detaching her mind from her fingers, she focused on the task at hand with the same diligence she applied to her alchemical efforts.

“What are you doing?” Zosima’s voice pealed across the clearing, louder than the thunder that still rumbled in the skies. “What happened?”

Serra didn’t turn from her patient as she kept plucking pieces of burned robe from Mattin’s arms and slathering salve over the places where they had been. “Lightning.” She was proud she kept her voice from shaking. This was something she could do, and confidence steeled her spine. She might not be able to pitch a tent or split wood for a fire, but she knew her potions and her poultices.

She could save a life.

In case you haven’t seen, the campaign for Many Hands: An Anthology of Polyamorous Erotica is now funded! Our base funding goal is just the beginning, though, because now we aim for our stretch goals, which are geared toward enabling us to pay our authors more. They’ll earn DOUBLE their current pay if we can hit $11,000 – only about $2,000 more than we’ve raised thus far. Backers at our two merch levels will also get an extra merch item – temporary tattoos!Want to get more awesome stuff and help us give our creators a raise? Give us a hand in promoting the anthology!

Today, we're sharing three more teasers, too. Today's are from the works by contributors Terra P. Waters, Mina Kramek, and YF Ollwell!

Title: The Missing Prince

Excerpt:

Ala scrambled off the mattress and circled it until she could see Théophile’s face. He was bound, blindfolded, and had a dirty gag in his mouth. The urge to play with him was strong, but she resisted, pulling out the gag and removing the blindfold. “Hello, love.”

“Kiss me,” he groaned. “Please, Princess…”

“Théophile,” she said, grasping Kormac’s wrist so he would stop moving his hand. “We’re coming to get you, but we need your help. Where are you?”

“The port city. Channois. They say we’ll sail with the noon tide.” He turned his head toward the mattress, letting Kormac kiss his neck. “Oh, gods!”

She grasped his bound hands and squeezed them. “Is there anything else? Anything you want to tell us?” She looked past Kormac’s shoulder and saw a shadow standing in the doorway.

“Hester,” Théophile groaned, nodding toward the shadow. “Find Captain Hester, here in Channois. Her boat is The Blue Macaw. She’ll help you find me.”

Title: Shadow Dealings

Excerpt:

“Gerald Fitzgibbons, your debt has come due.” She manifested gum in her mouth for the express purpose of blowing a bubble in his face, a pointed expression of boredom. It popped, and he whimpered. “Twenty years of wealth and debauchery for an eternity in Hell. There is no escape. Hope it was worth it.”

They always found, in the end, that it had not been.

“Wait, wait!” Gerry squeaked, followed by a garbled name that would’ve been unintelligible if Niya hadn’t found its owner infuriating yet intriguing: “Temerity Jones.”

Niya loosened her grip just enough to allow Gerry to speak clearly. “You have thirty seconds to make this worth my while."

Title: Hippie Ipsum

Excerpt:

In the haze of smoke, Heathcliff looked gorgeous as ever. Abernathy hadn’t known him in life, only this strange afterward, but he imagined the living Heathcliff in perfect detail. There was an exuberance in him that in Abernathy was long dead. When he looked sidelong at Abernathy, flashed fangs to him and him only…

It wasn’t fair. When he wasn’t considering the object of his desire, he considered the evil, opposite-of-object—Edmund, silent as ever. He knew nothing about his master’s husband, an odd shadow over his afterlife. The two had exchanged perhaps fifty words in the last century. This was for the best, as Abernathy thought Edmund might like to kill him if he knew the way he felt about Heathcliff. He also thought, in his more pathetic jags, that Edmund would be perfectly justified in said killing. It was sick. It was wrong. Heathcliff and Edmund were committed to each other.

Abernathy turned from Edmund—who was taller than him, who was much bigger and stronger, who was Heathcliff’s Dark Intended and not merely his thrall—and settled on the fiery curls framing Heathcliff’s ear.

Fat white worms of want writhed in his stomach.

The crowdfunding campaign for our first erotic anthology Many Hands: An Anthology of Polyamorous Erotica is almost through the first week, and we’re only $600 from our funding goal! We’re very excited about y’alls enthusiasm for this project, and we couldn’t be happier to be able to share it with ya.

With “sharing it with ya” in mind, we’ll be doing several posts with story teasers, and this is the first, featuring three teasers, one each from the authors Lyonel Loy, Eliot Lovell, and E. K. Victor! All teasers are non-explicit, for obvious reasons, and we’re not including tags on our teasers this time for the same reason, but in the book, all stories come with comprehensive tag lists to help readers navigate the collection.

Title: Love, With Bloodstained Jaws, or: Five Times Levente’s Omegas “Seduce” Him, And One Time He Seduces Them

Excerpt: “Any fool can stand by an altar and speak some pretty words,” [Raihan] says. “You bested me with your own hand, and so by our ways I am yours. But it was your troops who captured Melchor. Why should he call you his mate, and not them? If it took twenty strong warriors to best him, surely twenty also are needed to please him. Your Alphonse, who led them: he is such a sweet little thing. It would be lovely to see him under Melchor, spread wide and undone.”

Title: Double Take

Excerpt

“Here he is,” Mia sings. “Right on time.”

Nathan wipes his hands off on the apron he’s wearing, rounding the kitchen island to close the space between them in a few strides.

There’s a wedding ring on Nathan’s finger. George has got to pay better attention to what’s going on around him.

“You made it,” Nathan says, kind of breathless, relieved, as though George’s journey was farther than three floors.

Nathan wraps an arm around him for a brief hug, nosing into his hair in something like a kiss before pushing it behind George’s ear with a gentle hand. When Nathan pulls back, George blinks up at him. He wonders what his face is doing to make Nathan’s brows notch together like that.

“You’re married,” George blurts.

Title: Soul Splinters

Excerpt:

I’ve had this dream more times than I can count.

The setting varies. Sometimes it’s an airport, other times a train station or a bridge I must cross alone. Often I remember nothing but the kiss. The kiss is always the same. We hold one another, chest to chest, hip to hip, and kiss slowly, deeply, every motion loaded with longing. My heart overflows. My eyes brim with tears. I’m aroused, but on waking I rarely find evidence of an erection and never anything more. I invariably awaken—not with a start, but with a whimper. The tears are mostly real.

Usually I dream about Warren. Sometimes, it’s Steve. After, I lie wide-eyed in the dark, listening to the thumping of my heart, and think of the only true friends I’ve ever had, whom I abandoned. I promise myself I’ll call them tomorrow, then remember: with an ocean between us, the time to call would be now—and turn over with a groan.

Time is ruthless. I used to think about them whenever I wasn’t busy. Then only occasionally. Almost never, nowadays. But the less they occupy my conscious mind, the more the dream visits, and the heavier it weighs with the love aging in me like wine in the cellars of a vacant house, never to be tasted.

We’re over the moon to share that Many Hands: An Anthology of Polyamorous Erotica has been named a Kickstarter “Project We Love.” This keeps up our streak – this is our fifth Kickstarted anthology, and all five have been named “Projects We Love,” highlighting our track record for honestly describing our projects, meeting our goals, and fulfilling our campaigns with fidelity.

Many Hands has also been added to Kickstarter’s July Event “Heartstrings and Hardbacks,” focused on promoting romance book projects this summer! Not every story in Many Hands is a romance, and it’s an honor for Kickstarter to decide we qualify for the event.

We introduced our new anthology in our announcement post – 15 stories! Amazing authors! Scrumptious smut! – so join us as we take a moment to introduce our campaign merchandise! We’re offering six lovely extras across two tiers – a “basic merch” level and an “all the merch” level.

Basic Merchandise

Our third backer tier includes the book in trade paperback and these three awesome items – a new Dux sticker, an art print, and a bookmark! These items are also each available as add-ons to people who back at any level that includes physical merchandise.

The images for the bookmark and front cover art are ginormous so instead of including them in the Dreamwidth post, I'm just gonna give y'all links. :D

  • Polyamorous Dux Die-Cut Sticker: Alessa Riel is back with a brand-new dux design, featuring multiple dux and their many wings! (Printed by Vograce.)
  • Art Print of the Front Cover: a gorgeous matte print of the front cover art. 8.5 in x 11 in./21.5 cm x 28 cm. Art by Aaron Kotze. (Printed by Printkeg.) You can view the cover here.

Higher-Tier Merchandise

To get the all the merchandise, backers can support us for our highest-level tier, which includes the three “basic merchandise” items introduced above, and also an enamel pin, enamel key chain, and a citrus-and-mint scented candle! The only way to get the candle is to back at this level; the two enamelware items are available as add-ons to lower levels.

  • Lemon Love Candle: a gorgeous mint-and-citrus scented candle in a 3 oz/85 ml metal tin, approximately 2 in/5 cm circular, made by anthology contributor Alec J. Marsh of Speculative Wicktion.
  • Poly Pride Dragon Key Chain: an awesome, cute key chain featuring a design inspired by the original polyamorous pride flag. Art is by reshipkmn. Epoxy-coated soft enamel with gold metal. 1.5 in x 1 in/3.75 cm x 2.5 cm. (Manufactured by Alchemy.)
  • Poly Pride Salamander Enamel Pin: this super sweet salamander is bedecked in the colors of the 2022 tricolor polyamory flag. Art is by reshipkmn. 2 in x 2 in/5 cm x 5 cm. Epoxy-coated soft enamel with black metal. (Manufactured by Alchemy.)

Tons of books and merchandise from our previous campaigns is also available as add-ons, which means no matter what merch you like, odds are we’ll have something you’ll enjoy!

Our Mythical Creature Pride Merch Campaign featuring (currently) six designs of mythical creatures (pegasus, nessie, phoenix, dragon, chimera, and cerberus) in the colors of six pride flags (trans, mlm, wlw, non-binary, bisexual, and asexual flags) has now been running for ten days, and it’s been going awesome – so well that we’re about to add our seventh design, also featuring the artwork of the amazing Pippin Peacock! We crossed our initial funding goal of $3,000 in under 12 hours, and we’re now only $70 from our first stretch goal, which will enable us to create pins and stickers in the colors shared by the agender pride flag and aromantic pride flag: green, white, black, and gray! And the creature for this stretch goal is…

…a Kelpie!! This cutie pie loves to hang out in marshes and swamps but don’t worry, it’s only there to get some alone time in between making friends. Lovely greens help them blend in with the local flora and fauna! (Note: final design pending – this may get tweaked, and we haven’t finished the sticker version yet – this is the enamel pin design)

Also, at the risk of putting our cart before our horse, we’re also only about $1,000 from our second stretch goal, and we’ll start planning it once we’re within about $500 of it (so, once we cross $5,000 in total funding). This to-be-determined critter will be in the colors of the genderqueer pride flag (purple, white and green). I’m really excited what Pippin will come up with when I give them the green light to start designing the next beast.

And, in case you missed it, here are the other six designs…

We’ve also got two of our name-a-beast bundles left, so you haven’t yet missed your chance to name one of these lovelies. Meet Jack Rose the Pegasus and Asha the Phoenix; the Dragon is claimed but remains unnamed, and our fourth beast namer hasn’t picked a beast yet. Nessie, Chimera and Cerberus are left!

So help us spread the word by sharing this post, and even better…
